Juniper was an ordinary girl with a passion for photography, until the day she photographs a murder. From that point on, her life, and that of her best friend Carrie, will never be the same. Meeting Darius, a quiet guy in her high school, she finds out that the world is bigger than she thought and there’s a battle raging in the shadows. But joining this battle will cost her way of life, if not her life.
I loved the concept of this book, and dove straight in. I was a little disappointed in the characters, because I felt like they fell flat at times. The plot has great direction, but sometimes it lags in the middle. Still, Juniper and Darius fight for their friends and the very hope of goodness everywhere. That’s nothing to belittle.
Book two comes out this fall 2014, and I’d pick it up and read through because I did get a little attached to the characters. If you like the sound of it, you can find Normal is the Watchword on Amazon or via the author’s website.
