Intoxicated by Alicia Renee Kline is book one in the Intoxicated series about Lauren Jeffries, a bank mortgage writer who’s life just got turned upside down. After a promotion, she moves out of her longtime home in Indianapolis, leaving behind her boyfriend, Eric, of 10 years in a long distance relationship.
Lauren moves in with Blake Snyder and quickly becomes friends with her new roomie and her brother, Matthew. Now she’s got to balance her old life and her new one, and it’s not going so well.
I’m not usually a romance fan, but this plot line captured my attention and kept it. The characters are realistic, and they screw up sometimes. Not everything is perfect, and we’re left wanting more. The book is written in first person from Lauren’s point of view, and she has a very unique voice.
I also loved the interwoven history. There’s a lot that’s happened in the lives of Lauren, Eric, Blake, and Matthew that shapes who they are and how they think. Yes, sometimes I feel like the characters are being stupid, but aren’t real people like that?
You can find Intoxicated on Amazon or Smashwords, or by visiting the author’s website. There’s also a book two, Shattered, which you can read about as well. Book three, Designed, comes out in July, and I’ll be waiting for it!
