Review: Eve’s Return by Crystal A Bourque

Eve’s Return by Crystal Bourque is the first book in the Book of Eve series, and let me just say wow. Jordan, the main character, comes home from a year abroad to find her parents murdered, her twin brother missing, and her life in shambles. When she starts seeing hallucinations that are real, she decides to seek out her brother.

She doesn’t find him, but she does find help and together, she and her friends must battle demons and figure out why there’s a guardian angel telling Jordan that its her job to save the world.

Jordan is a complex character full of bitter feelings and broken dreams. She’s not the kind of girl that’s the save-the-world type. Embittered by her last fight with her family and her brother, she’s got to get over old wounds in order to move forward. Jordan is distrustful and feels like everyone she’s ever loved has left her for better things, and she just might be right. But it’s not quite what she thinks. And it’s up to Jordan to decide how far she’ll go to save those precious few who stay by her side.

I must say, the ending surprised me. I thought I had it figured out, and then in the last few chapters everything went all sideways. Totally awesome!
